Our 2023 Summer Intensive programs, in Essex and Shelburne, are to be held in person. We will stagger start times where necessary. Masks are not required but encouraged if one has been exposed to a positive COVID case or is not feeling 100%. Only accepted SI dancers are allowed in the studio area.

Our Program:
Our intensive full-day summer program designed to provide serious students ages 8 to 21 with complete summer dance instruction.
Classes are held five days a week and include ballet and pointe technique, variations, pas de deux, jazz, modern, character,
choreography, pilates, mime, acting and seminars in stage make-up, nutrition and physical therapy. This program provides approximately 180 hours of
study with an educated and professional faculty. At the end of the 5 week session, potential new members for the Vermont Ballet Theater
and Vermont Youth Ballet are selected.

Tuition:
Essex: (all 5 weeks) $2,200.00.
Essex: (selected weeks) $475.00/week.
Shelburne: $475.00/week.
Upon acceptance a $475.00 non-refundable deposit must accompany the application by April 1st, 2023
for VBTS students, and April 15th for video audition candidates.
Remaining balance to be paid in 2 additional installments by May 10th and June 10th.
Acceptance:
Dancers will be notified of acceptance by mail or email within 2 weeks of the audition date.
If accepted into the program we will include an Application and Summer Intensive Information Letter.

2023 Summer Intensive Auditions
- In-Person Auditions:
Ages: 7 - 12 on Saturday March 11th at the Essex Campus
Registration Audition Age or VBTS Level 1:00-1:30pm 1:30-2:15pm Ages 7-9
VBTS Ballet I & II2:15-2:30pm 2:30-3:30pm Ages 10-11
VBTS Ballet III & IV3:30-3:45pm 3:45-4:45pm Ages 11-12
VBTS Ballet V & VI
Audition fees:
$10.00 - VBTS students
$14.00 – all other dancers
All dancers will be notified of acceptance by mail.
- In-Studio Auditions for VBTS dancers only:
VBTS dancers age 13 and up (OR current VBTS level Ballet VII and up) will be evaluated during your normal classes at VBTS the week of March 13th. Please submit the following VBTS Audition Form prior to March 13th. - Video Auditions for any dancers ages 10 and up:
Videos will be accepted until March 25th. Videos must be electronic (e.g. MP4) or DVD format and no longer than 30 minutes in length and sent in along with the following VBTS Audition Form and a dance instructor’s letter of recommendation. See details below for video audition.
Please arrange audition in the following sequence:
- Full body shot of student facing the camera. State your name, age, and years of study.
- Barre exercises (short combinations): Pliés, Tendus/Dégagés, Rond de Jambes/Fondus, Adage, Grand Battements en croix.
- Center exercises (short combinations): Pirouettes, Adage, Petite and Grande Allegro.
- Girls on pointe demonstrate Échappés, Relevés on one foot and Pirouettes.
