All of the teachers at VBTS are missing our students very much and want you to know that we sincerely understand how difficult it is being away from the studio. We have put together some thoughts and ideas for you at home, to keep you dancing and in great physical shape, and even a few videos that will have you taking a virtual class with VBTS @ Home! We will continue to put out new ideas, links, etc…with the hope that we can return to the studio sooner than later, ready to pick up right where we left off! As always if you have any questions please email Alex at email@example.com or Michele at firstname.lastname@example.org
Tots, CID, CID II:
Play a lot of classical music, teach your family member some of the steps you do in class, i.e.
1st position, demi-plie, tendu, butterfly arms, all your stretches and good ballet feet practice. Teach them your
dance that you are learning for our spring show. Tell someone a story using movement and arm gestures in place of words.
Go outside every day and practice skipping forward and backward, gallops/chasses’ using both feet. Free dance everywhere!
We just learned that American Ballet Theater in NYC will be offering virtual classes for ages 2-8, a link to their
information is on our Vermont Ballet Theater Facebook page. Those begin on Monday March 23rd. It may be different than
what they do with us, but it could be fun too!
CIB: All of the above plus you can watch our VBTS Ballet I virtual class that was taught by Miss Haley. (see Videos section below) It is a level above you but it would be good practice and it will give you a little introduction to what you will be learning next year!
Ballet I: All of the above plus click on the VBTS Ballet I virtual class taught by Miss Haley and take class with VBTS @ Home! (see Videos section below)
Ballet II: Click on the VBTS Ballet II virtual class taught by Miss Sarah and take class with VBTS @ Home! (see Videos section below) Practice your spring show choreography, stretch every day, teach a family member some of your ballet steps, listen to classical music and choreograph your own dances and have fun!
Ballet III: Click on the VBTS Ballet III virtual class taught by Miss Sarah and take class with VBTS @ Home! (see Videos section below) Practice your spring show choreography, stretch every day, teach a family member some of your ballet steps, listen to classical music and choreograph your own dances and have fun!
Ballet IV, V, and VI: Click on the VBTS Ballet IV, V, VI virtual class taught by Miss Sarah and take class with VBTS @ Home! (see Videos section below) Stretch and do your planks & crunches every day, practice your spring choreography as much as you are able, carefully do some pointe work, if you have your pointe shoes and if you can do it on a hard surface (not on carpet, you could injure yourself!), teach a family member the positions of the arms and feet, listen to music and make up some of your own class combinations, then do them with a ballet friend (virtually!) and have fun!
Ballet VII – Adv. A: We are trying to post as many online class options that we come across and following us on Facebook is the best way to learn of those. We will continue to find other ways to connect with you but in the meantime, stretch every day, take as much of a class as your space at home allows, planks, crunches, pointe work, cross training, pilates, yoga, get outside for fresh air, keep a positive attitude, and connect with your ballet friends, (virtually!) as much as you can! We miss you!
Feel free to take one of the VBTS @ Home virtual classes that is not at your level! Either a level above for a challenge, or one below for extra focus on cleaning and defining your technique!
Stretch, plank, listen to music, practice spring performance choreography, teach a family member, get outside and move, and we hope to have some warm-up videos for you soon!
