VBTS is pleased to welcome guest artist Samuel Wilson

Samuel Wilson began his classical dance training at the age of 15. He studied under the direction of Lawan Morrison at the Bremerton Dance Center in his home state of Washington. After three short years he moved to New York City where he began his professional dance career with the Dance Theatre of Harlem. While with DTH Samuel performed in several prestigious places and traveled to many countries where he served as an ambassador for the arts. Wanting to broaden his horizons, Wilson decided to move to Washington D.C. where he became a member of The Washington Ballet under the direction of Septime Weber and later Julie Kent. During his career Samuel has performed defining roles in ballets such as Agon, Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Petite Mort (Jiri Kylian), Black Swan pas de deux, Nine Sinatra Songs (Twyla Tharp), Mercury Half-Life (Trey McIntyre), In The Middle Somewhat Elevated (William Forsythe), and The Firebird just to name a few. Wilson has also been featured on BET's "106 and Park" and "Dance Theatre of Harlem in The White House" on PBS. He is now a dancer for the Washington National Opera whose home is the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
